Definition: cashless ATM

A point-of-sale terminal for merchants that are unable to accept credit card payments. Cashless ATMs allow people to use their debit cards to make purchases at such retail outlets. Also known as a "point-of-banking" terminal, the ATM term is misleading because no cash is dispensed. However, like an ATM, the cashless ATM transfers funds in $10 increments, and merchants refund any change to the customer in cash. See ATM machine.
